We are happy that you are going to take English as a Second Language classes at EVC. Now, you will find which class level is right for you. This Guided Self Placement will take 60 minutes. This is NOT a test. We ask you to think about what you can do in English and make the best choice for your goals. You will focus on reading and writing, but you will also answer questions about your grammar, listening, and speaking. Watch this video to see what you will do to choose your class level. I agree that it is better living in a big city than a small town for three reasons. Firstly, a big city has lots of entertainment. I can go to movie theater and go to shopping at many malls. For example, I go to shopping at Coach, Chanel and Nordstroms. Secondly, transportation is available in a big city. For example, Tokyo has many buses and trains that are organized and on time. In addition, the transportations are more frequent than in a small town. Thirdly, the education system is better in a big city. There are many universities with famous professors. Then, students can get a good job after university because there are many jobs in big cities. However, the small town has many trees and parks that people can rest. For example, big cities have pollution and traffic with many cars. For all the reasons above, living in a big city is better than in a small town because of entertainment, transportation and education although pollution is bad.

If you ask people which is the best place to live, probably they can answer that the best places are the big cities because they have big buildings, many companies that offer jobs, and good transport systems. However, in my opinion, the best places where people can live are small towns for reasons important such as a healthy environment and peaceful neighborhood. First, the small town has an impressionist environment that provides people with fresh and clean air. Many people at the end of journal day, like to walk and think about many things, and these places count with majestic parks optimal to make hiking, running, and walking while they think about their life. Nothing better than make exercises around wild nature. Second, the small towns are peaceful neighborhoods. These towns are normally separate from the cities so that there is not noise contamination caused for companies and transport systems. Another important characteristic of these tows is that amount of delinquency is reduce. In conclusion, living in small towns is great for people because these provide them with wonderful neighborhoods and an impressionist environment. These are in my opinion.

Do you ever think about where you want to live in the future? Some people like living ina big city while other people like living in a small town. I prefer living in a big city to living in a small town because a big city has better schools, hospitals, and job opportunities than those of a small town. Firstly, education is very important to me. I can easily find more modern schools with better teachers in a big city than in a small town. This is because there are more schools and teachers may be better paid. I can choose the school that is the best fit for me. For example, in the big city of San Jose, I can study English at my college. In my hometown, I could not study English because my town did not have a college. Secondly, health is also an important matter to me. There are much more modern hospitals with best doctors and devices in a big city than those in a small town. In case I have serious sickness, doctors who work in modern hospitals in a big city are able to save my life better than those who work in small hospitals in a small town. For instance, when my father had a heart attack in the big city of San Jose, the doctors at the hospital could save his life. Last but not least, job opportunities in a big city are better than those in a small town because there are more business facilities such as banks, travel agencies, insurance agencies, hospitals, schools, factories and so on located in a big city. These businesses recruit thousands of people every year. For example, Apple and Google are two big companies that do this. If I live in a small town, job opportunities are limited because business facilities rarely locate in such places. For all the above mentioned reasons, I prefer living in a big city to a small town.
